6 up, 6 down for the Owls, with 5 Ks. Sigh.

Alch pulled after a single & walk to lead off the T5. Stratton in. 1st hitter gets infield single to load the bases with no outs.

Sac fly makes it 2-3. Pop-up for 2nd out.

Another single makes it 2-4, but 2nd runner is thrown out at home to end the inning.

A quick B5 for the Owls - K, 3U, K.

Owls out hit 9-4 thru 5 innings. Owls hitters with 8 Ks so far to only 1 for UAB hitters.

2-4 going to T6.

Far too quick a hook given the state of our bullpen. And, again, going to Stratton with two guys already on base and no outs, given his very obvious control issues, makes absolutely no sense.

Two clean innings for Rodriguez with 4 Ks. Nice job!

Now, find some offense to support the pitching!

Rice has 9 Ks in 6 innings against a guy who came in averaging 0.66 Ks/IP (over 53 innings).

Owls go down 1-2-3 in the B7. Up to 10 Ks. UAB starter very efficient with 82 pitches thru 7 innings.

RE: UAB 3
B8 Correa reached on an error and advanced to 2B to lead off inning.
Garza grounds out, but Correa advances to 3B.
Motley cannot strikeout here-- must put the ball in play with less than two outs...but he does what Rice has done almost every single time this year in this situation-- he strikes out. 03-banghead
Devenny hit by pitch. Runners on the corners with two outs.
Dukes clutch RBI-single. 02-13-banana Runners still on corners, two outs.
Rank (0-2, 2 Ks) lined out to a leaping SS. Tough break.
3-4 heading to the 9th. I'd put in Hickson here as Rodriguez has to be gassed after going 3 innings today and 2+ yesterday.

Seems like that’s a couple of times Rank lined out today. Tough luck.

RE: UAB 3
Good start to the B9. Riedel triples.

Gallo grounds out to 3B. Riedel stays put. 1 out

Duffield grounds to 1B. This time Riedel is out, but stays alive long enough to get Duffield to 2B. 2 outs.

Daniels finally pulled after 112 pitches. Clack in for UAB to face Correa.

No joy in Mudville today. Correa Ks. 3-4 final.

Runner at 3B and no outs and Owls fail to get him home. Sigh! Seen this too many times.

What even is the thought process behind bunting with the game tying runner on third?

RE: UAB 3
What a job by Rodriguez-- another 1-2-3 inning. Yes, it's only UAB, but still impressive.

Can the offense find a way to extend this or win it?

Reidel leadoff triple.
Gallo puts the ball in place but a force out at 3B keeps Reidel at 3B.
Duffield another ground ball catches Reidel off 3B and he's tagged in a run down. Awful baserunning. Duffield does advance to 2B, but two outs. Need a hit.
UAB finally replaces their starter with their LHP (6.60 ERA) who struck out Correa on 3 pitches looking yesterday with a guy on 3B and one out. I would go with Royo or Cummings here, but Jose sticks with Correa...
Correa who again strikes out looking on 4 pitches this time, never taking the bat off his shoulder. Good grief. Just don't understand Jose not pinch hitting there when Correa looked so bad against the same pitcher yesterday.
