I am surprised we have not heard about tennis. How are the women and men doing? Anybody ranked in the top 25? I thought the women were doing well but not sure about mens tennis.

The first match for the men is tomorrow. Women defeated Lamar 7-0 last Sunday and play NC State tomorrow...both teams are undefeated.

Neither team was in the preseason ITA rankings/poll, but that's not a surprise as there are very few non-P5 schools on either list.

I looked at the UTR rankings for CUSA and both teams should be top-3 in the conference. On the mens side, Sumit Sarkar is the highest-rated player in the conference by a pretty wide margin.

@NCState, the Wolfpack won the doubles point. Our Owls won 4 of the 6 singles matches' first sets, however.

Rice is keeping it interesting vs #8 NC State. Down 1-3 but all 3 remaining can go either way.

#4 singles -- Linda Huang v Lexi Keberle -- is 5-5 in the 3rd.

Rice has small leads (4-2 & 1-0) in the other two 3rd sets.

Gotta win 'em all.

Match must the over ... video shows players are shaking hands not after a point.

Update: "Live" scoring now shows NCState winning the #5 singles, 6-3 in the 3rd.

2-4, final match score.

Strong effort. We have a really solid schedule so we'll have other chances to get some quality wins this year. It appears we have the talent to be in the mix to host a regional.

Rice men’s tennis has really fallen apart since Adam Gustafson and Tommy Bennett graduated (and the others “went their separate ways”)... Back to back 7-0 defeats vs. Dartmouth and Harvard this weekend.

The women just choked on the road vs. TCU in a 4-3 loss where we had a 5-3 lead in the 3rd set of the final match.

At least they beat UTA yesterday.

What the hell is wrong with Mens Tennis? Looks like questionable recruiting.

RE: Rice Tennis
Neither Sumit nor Michaela played this weekend...When your No. 1 player doesn't play, every other player has to move up a slot...it's unfair to try to evaluate the team when your No. 1 doesn't play. I would anticipate that both are back next weekend.
